„Deutsche Renaissance 2.0 -
Blue-Black Downdate with Red"
2008
(3 x 22 x 34cm, oil on canvas)

This update is different from the ones shown above: It works with gaps rather than with additions. The work on this triptych has been interrupted deliberately at a certain point. Some planes which already have been finished demonstrate that this decision is not due to a lack of the painter’s abilities but rather is based on two insights: Firstly, ready pictures often do no longer own the charm of presentiment and anticipation of the final product which no longer has to be worked on. Secondly, the classical paintings of the German Renaissance as by Dürer, Holbein and Cranach in their perfect finality present themselves as sublime as transcendent. Hence, up to now there has been one desideratum: that the next-to superhuman perfect protagonists of the also perfectly worked original portraits never ever cast envious glances upon nicer pictures or are marked by realistic spots of ketchup.
